This is the best hike to view birds.

Birds best before dusk November-January.

Mosquitos may be plentiful in Fall prior to the first good frost.  There tend to be a lot around dusk, go more in the middle of the day and there may not be any.

There are also jackrabbits.  And the wild roses bloom in April.

This hike is in Gray Lodge Wildlife Area; owned by the public, managed by California Department of Fish and Wildlife.  No camping allowed.
