One of
California's county high points. There is an informal club
of people who try to ascend them all.
To ascend ours, you start at
Cold Springs, an important water source for Pacific Crest
Trail hikers. The trail leaves Cold Springs meadow,
and climbs mildly through heavy red fir forest to open flats
near the top. A little further up a side trail is the
summit, but continue over it to get to the edge of Butte
County. Good views are to be found a little north of
the trail junction, just up the Pacific Crest Trail. |
