A long, remote hike to some of the best lakes for camping in the Lassen backcountry, Swan and Lower Twin Lakes.

Rainbow Lake is the most remote area in the Lassen region.  Usually you will see a few other hikers, particularly at Twin Lakes, but crowds are non-existent here.

This is one of the best long loops, with a good variety of scenery.

This hike is in Lassen National Park; owned by the public, managed by Lassen National Park. Backpacking at least 200' from water, no campfires, bear-proof food storage, in-person self-service permit from any Park ranger station.
