Frog Mountain

EASY DAY HIKE

5.7 miles  800' elevation gain

best season:
mid July-Oct

1:15 drive

dogs welcome

Frog Mountain is the southernmost peak in the Cascade Range, and is the highest peak in Butte County.

A little below the summit is icy cold Frog Spring.  This is an important water source for PCT thru-hikers.  Have a drink, it is good pure water!

On very clear days you can see the top of Mount Shasta from Frog Mountain.

2017:  the US Forest Service has done a lot of work in the last couple years on the access road and trails.  The road is much improved with new gravel and easier to locate, and the trails have been re-established with new drainage features and tread work.

This hike is in Lassen National Forest; owned by the public, managed by Lassen National Forest. Backpacking welcomed; campfires welcomed except late Summer & early Fall.
